The Woodford Academy is the oldest complex of colonial buildings in the Blue Mountains and is of state heritage significance.Built originally as an Inn in the 1830s, the property has had a multi-layered history, also operating over the years as a gentleman’s residence, guest house, boarding house and from 1907-1936 under the ownership of John McManamey as an exclusive school - Woodford Academy.Bequested to the National Trust in 1979 by John McManamey’s sole surviving daughter Gertrude, the Woodford Academy is today a museum that offers not only a unique glimpse of colonial life in the Blue Mountains but also an insight into the current Blue Mountains community through an innovative program of site-specific art events, performances and talks for the monthly open days.

Heide is a public art museum and sculpture park located on a stretch of the Birrarung/Yarra River that has long served as a meeting point and as a creative hub.

Heide Museum of Modern Art
Highly recommended! Worth to pay a visit if you haven't been!Love the indoor and outdoor settings, from art gallery, sculptures, landscape and architectural spaces.Outdoor and surrounding browsing is free, gallery is the only fee admission sction, but totally worth for its price as you would be able to visit the 3 different types of architectural buildings, from heritage to post modern then to contemporary. There is cafe, coffee kiosk opposite the shop available, but do check on their opening hours if you visit on the week day.Easy to spend a good quality of a few hours here. And best to be here when there is no rain so you could enjoy the outdoor a bit more.Facilities are good and clean, staff and volunteers are very friendly and helpful.A place where you would like to revisit.

Dominik Mersch Gallery
One of my favourite contemporary art galleries in Sydney! Dominik Mersch Gallery consistently exhibits a wide range of amazing, challenging works by leading artists from Australia and around the world, always with a unique and welcoming style. The gallery is also strongly committed to supporting the Sydney art community, from forging exciting collaborations with local universities to providing emerging artists and curators a platform for their early work. Definitely check it out!

I'm always surprised when friends of mine who live in Melbourne tell me that they've never been to the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art. Located just outside the CBD, this free gallery exhibits some really striking and impressive contemporary art, by celebrated artists from around the globe.

Heide Museum of Modern Art
My 3rd visit - to view Barbara Hepworth's current exhibition. This is small & you'd be done in under 40 mins incl. viewing a grainy doco that gives an insight into the landscape of Cornwall & surrounds that inspired her sculptures. The exhibits in the Heide II was the kind that you walk in & out again. As they say - art appreciation, especially modern art is in the eye of the beholder....You will be fitted with a wrist band once you get your tix or show your pre-purchased tix. Need to keep this on to gain entry into Heide II & Reed's cottage which has more artwork by the bohemian arty circle that Heide is reknowned for. It was just too hot on the recent Sun to walk up to Reed cottage after Heide I & II.The vast surrounds which melds with adjacent Banksia park looked dull & uninspiring with the same old unchanging outdoor sculptures bar a few newer ones. Yes -it is the hottest & driest time of the year but surely with the kind of patronage & funding Heide receives, upkeep & maintenance should be constant...What's with the unsealed, dusty & inadequate car parking area esp. for the crowds that turn up on a Sunday? You can drive round to the 2nd level park & if this small space is full - turn right - all the way down to Banksia Park parking areas & hike uphill to get to Heide's main entrance. With Heide, there's this smug complacency to do nothing much to increase patronage. Be like NGV, McClleland Sculpture Park, PT Leo Sculpture Park or the wineries that incorporate outdoor artwork & sculptures - evolve, upscale & maintain please!

Thought provoking gallery showcasing Australian artists. Although i struggled to understand one of the exhibits, the plaques on the wall were very informative. My favourite installation was one decided of pulleys and charcoal and it created art on the way that was constantly evolving. It's not a big place, but well worth a visit. You can also tap and donate as well.
