Lomandra Place Studios
Ross at Lomandra Studios is the real deal. He runs a commercial joinery / furniture / design business and offers weekly classes and courses in all aspects of woodwork. A very knowledgeable teacher with an incredibly high skill set, Ross encourages excellence, is patient and clearly is passionate about what he does. We have learnt so much from attending his classes.

Did the Intro to Routing workshop - great value. Really hands-on, in a unique opportunity to try several different machines and techniques. Taylor has a truck-load of experience and good ideas, and the rest of the group contributed as well. Could not recommend this more strongly to anyone new to, or even moderately experienced in, using a router.

As a novice woodworker, I was definitely a bit unsure as to the best way to get started. I was lucky enough to get a spot in one of Stu's Intro to Woodworking classes at his Brisbane workshop and I cannot speak highly enough of his skills and guidance in helping me through all of the steps. The woodworking class started with an introduction to various timbers, Stu guided me through the timber selection process for my hallway table, through to the correct selection and use of tools and the structured plan from design, through to cutting, glueing and finishing, to make sure the finished hallway table was really high quality. I'm extremely happy with the finished product and strongly recommend anyone who is interested in starting woodwork or looking to further hone their craft to talk to Stu and Daniele at Bywater Design - I think I might be eyeing off the wooden surfboard class next!

The Adelaide School of Woodwork is a great place to start exploring this craft. My partner and I attended the workshop Come and Try Woodwork" in June 23 and we both had a lovely time. There were a couple of instructors in our Saturday morning class

Wonderful experience. Remy is a master of his craft and of encouragement. From the moment your pencil markings join up to the moment you join your 2 dovetailed pieces together, you’re feeling great satisfaction. I love the box I came home with. I recommend this course to anyone who wants to reconnect to their own practical creativity.

Brisbane Guitar Making School
As a retired engineer with a love of guitars my daughter thought I should actually make one. Without her push I would probably have left the dream of doing that just a dream. But she bought me a starting package as a birthday present and I could not be a happier dad. Working with Andrew was a fantastic experience and he taught me so much. Working with guitar woods to create a finished guitar is something very special. From these woods, and with Andrew's help, you build the many components to make something you eventually hold in your hands and play, and it is unique and beautiful, and it sounds so good when you finally play it. This is a great thing to do. And with the help and knowledge provided by the school it is, I think, a certainty that anyone who wants to do this is going to achieve it.

I don't think there really is anything more satisfying in this life than building your own amazing guitar. It doesn't matter if you have never picked up a chisel or a plane before, or even if you already own some lovely instruments, it is about the experience and personal reward of building something truly amazing and absolutely unique. I look at my first guitar build and I still can't quite believe that I made it. The fact that the volume and tone easily beat my handmade Yamaha and Asturias guitars is an unexpected bonus. I take my hat off to Andrew, he is a most excellent tutor with the patience of a saint. If you have a guitar, but want something better, built to state of the art designs, or would just like to experience the satisfaction of creating it, then sign up for classes. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Heartwood Creative Woodworking
There's some experiences in life that we know we'll never forget. The MyBench course with Heartwood is one of those. The bench is designed so perfectly, from dog holes, sliding deadman, flush front, to heavy and solid top and legs. You can just tell the amount of thought and functionality Stuart has put into this bench. But what makes this bench extra special is that you get to build it. I, along with Stuart's help, built this bench, and that yields an unmeasurable amount of bliss. I'm so happy with this bench, and one day, I will make great furniture and instruments with it. Thank you Heartwood :)Summary: amazing bench + unforgettable experience = worth it.
